The fourth largest metropolitan city of India, Chennai provides a broad industrial base in the automobile, technology, hardware manufacturing and healthcare industries. The State’s economy has received a boost by the rapid growth in the manufacturing and service sectors. Due to fast falling ground water tables and the poor quality of water, Tamil Nadu government is compulsorily implementing the cause of rainwater harvesting in all government offices, schools, hospitals and residential buildings. With rapid urbanization across scores of tier-II cities and a targeted growth over 10% in the manufacturing sector, the city offers immense potential for majority of international water and wastewater treatment companies. |

Chennai is implementing a 100-MLD (million litres per day) water desalination project at Minjur in north Chennai, the largest in India and is developing the facility on DBOOT basis under a 25-year concession period

India’s first PPP project, Tirupur Water Supply and Sewerage Project is in operation for almost three years. It supplies 185MLD industrial and domestic water to industries in Tirupur and households in Tirupur Municipality (TM) and Village Panchayats.
