The Union Budget 2026–27 presents a strong and forward-looking roadmap for India’s infrastructure-led growth. The continued focus on capital investment, urban development, water security, and sustainable infrastructure reflects the government’s intent to build long-term economic resilience while improving the quality of life for citizens.
The ₹85,222 crore allocation for urban development projects will significantly enhance city infrastructure by improving water supply and sanitation systems. The combined investments across key water infrastructure programmes represent a comprehensive national strategy to address water scarcity, improve sanitation access, and build climate-resilient water supply systems.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, with its allocation of ₹67,670 crore, remains the flagship programme for ensuring clean drinking water access to every rural household. This is not merely an expenditure; it is a humanitarian and development imperative. Sahara Industry has been actively engaged in water purification solution and wastewater treatment & reuse infrastructure, and we see this allocation as a powerful enabler for scaling our contributions in this space.
AMRUT 2.0, allocated ₹8,000 crore, continues to drive urban water and sewerage reforms, strengthening municipal water systems and improving the quality of life in cities across the country. The ₹5,226 crore allocated for river interlinking and irrigation projects will help in redistributing water resources to meet agricultural and industrial demands equitably.
The National Ganga Plan, with ₹3,100 crore in funding, reinforces the government’s commitment to river conservation and ecological restoration. These investments, taken together, will significantly strengthen drinking water supply networks, urban water systems, municipal and industrial wastewater management and irrigation infrastructure nationwide.
Overall, the Union Budget 2026–27 strikes a balanced approach by combining growth, sustainability, and infrastructure development. At Sahara Industry, we remain committed to supporting national priorities by delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable water treatment solutions that contribute meaningfully to India’s long-term development and water security goals.
