CHENNAI: The solid waste department has received 50% less funding than previous years, and there is no mention of improving toilets or basic sanitation. A new desalination plant is in progress and will be set up by April 2023 at Nemmeli. The second desalination plant will provide a drinking water supply to around nine lakh residents of Chennai.
