The National Green Tribunal has imposed an environmental compensation of Rs 3,500 crore on West Bengal for failure in the treatment of solid and liquid waste. The green bench noted that the West Bengal government did not take much initiative in prioritising solid and sewage treatment plants in urban areas, news agency PTI reported.
