The National Green Tribunal has imposed an environmental compensation of Rs 3,500 crore on West Bengal for failure in the treatment of solid and liquid waste. The green bench noted that the West Bengal government did not take much initiative in prioritising solid and sewage treatment plants in urban areas, news agency PTI reported. Hyderabad all set to become India’s first city to fully treat its sewage

If things go according to plan, Hyderabad will become the only city in the country to have 100 per cent sewage treatment facility by the end of next year.
