A new desalination plant is in progress and will be set up by April 2023 at Nemmeli. The second desalination plant will provide a drinking water supply to around nine lakh residents of Chennai. The new plant, built at a cost of Rs 1,259.38 crore, has the capacity to desalinate 150 million liters per day (MLD).
