On February 24, the Supreme Court of India closed its suo motu proceedings regarding river pollution, handing the responsibility of continuous monitoring back to the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Chief Justice Surya Kant noted that specialized environmental courts are better positioned to handle the technical complexities of sewage treatment and industrial discharge. Greater Noida Authority to build 5 Sewage Treatment Plants

The Greater Noida Authority has approved the construction of five sewage treatment plants (STPs) to enhance wastewater management and recycling for irrigation purposes. Only 8 sewage treatment plants in Bengaluru monitored properly, study finds

A study by an NGO has found that out of Bengaluru’s 31 sewage treatment plants, only eight are monitored properly for chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, pH, total nitrogen, faecal coliform, ammoniacal nitrogen and suspended solids for wastewater treatment.
